Με τις θερμές ευχές της Αυτής Εξοχότητας της Πρέσβεως της Αυστραλίας στην Ελλάδα, Κυρίας Kate Logan, τρεις Κρητικoί, ο Γιάννης Τζώρτζης, ο Ιάσονας Ταβλάς και ο Κωστής Βάρδας αναχωρούν μαζί με 12 άλλα μέλη της μη κερδοσκοπικής οργάνωσης Green Project
(GP green-project.org) για την Αυστραλία, για ένα διαφορετικό περιβαλλοντικό οδοιπορικό με τίτλο: “Green Project in Australia 2018 – Platypus trail: Renewables, Biospheres and Aborigines”. Η εκδήλωση εκκίνησης θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 5 Αυγούστου 2018, στις 6 το απόγευμα, στο Ελληνικό Κέντρο Σύγχρονου Πολιτισμού, στη Μελβούρνη.
Εορτάζοντας το “European Year of Cultural Heritage” (EYCH 2018), από τις 4 Αυγούστου μέχρι τις 2 Σεπτεμβρίου 2018, η GP έχει σκοπό να καταγράψει σε ένα πρωτότυπο ντοκιμαντέρ, την συνύπαρξη εντός των Βιοσφαιρών της UNESCO, των σύγχρονων εγκαταστάσεων ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας (ΑΠΕ) και της παραδοσιακής “περιβαλλοντικής γνώσης” των Αβορίγινων. Στόχος της είναι η γνώση που θα αποκτηθεί από το συνδυασμό αυτό και τη μελέτη των καλών πρακτικών της Αυστραλίας, να μπορέσει στο μέλλον να αξιοποιηθεί από για επενδύσεις σε καθαρή ενέργεια στην Αυστραλία και από Έλληνες επιστήμονες για την προώθηση αντίστοιχων εφαρμογών στην Ελλάδα, καθώς και την πρόληψη περιβαλλοντικών καταστροφών, όπως οι πρόσφατες πυρκαγιές που συγκλόνισαν την Αττική.
Η 15μελής αποστολή διακεκριμένων Ελλήνων επιστημόνων και καλλιτεχνών της GP, σε 29 ημέρες, χρησιμοποιώντας αυτοκινούμενα τροχόσπιτα με φωτοβολταϊκά, θα καλύψει 11.210 χλμ από τη Μελβούρνη, την Καμπέρα, την Αδελαϊδα, το Άλις Σπρίγκς, το Ντάρβιν, το Μπρούμ μέχρι το Πέρθ, και θα αποτυπώσει 56 “πράσινα σημεία ενδιαφέροντος”.
Στην ομάδα της GP λαμβάνουν μέρος οι: Yannis Tzortzis, δικηγόρος παρ’ Αρείω Πάγω στη Ρυθμιστική Αρχή Ενέργειας, μέλος της Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, o Theo Anagnostopoulos, βιολόγος, ειδικός στην επικοινωνία της επιστήμης, ο Aggelos Katsaggelos, καθηγητής electrical engineering και computer science στο Northwestern University of Chicago, η Maria Vranopoulou, κοινωνική ανθρωπολόγος, ο Jason Tavlas, δημοσιογράφος της ΕΡΤ, ο Alekos Markellos, δημοσιογράφος, ανταποκριτής της ΕΡΤ στην Αυστραλία, η Emma Papaemmanouel, δημοσιογράφος, ανταποκριτής της ΕΡΤ στην Αυστραλία, ο Dimitris Paterakis, πολιτικός μηχανικός και φωτογράφος της Fuji, ο Konstantinos Vardas, εκπαιδευτικός και φωτογράφος, η Katerina Charterou, φαρμακευτικό marketing, η Sandy Vergitsi, ειδική στην παραδοσιακή ιατρική, η Valeria Kaltezioti, μοριακή βιολόγος, η Kassiani Kaltezioti, αρχιτέκτονας εσωτερικών χώρων, η Vasiliki Kasoumi, ιατρική επιστήμονας, και ο Yannis Anastasopoulos, επιχειρηματίας εστίασης.
Κατά την ανωτέρω εκδήλωση εκκίνησης στο The Greek Centre, Μελβούρνη, θα εγκαινιαστεί η έκθεση περιβαλλοντικής φωτογραφίας “Sailing to Inner Habitats” με εικόνες από απομακρυσμένα θαλάσσια οικοσυστήματα του Ιονίου, που παρουσιάστηκε στο Athens Photo Festival 2018. Συμμετέχουν οι φωτογράφοι: Sandy Vergitsi, Νικολας Ζαχαροπουλος, Valeria Kaltezioti, Danae Stavros, Stephanos Stavros, Yannis Tzortzis και η Katerina Charterou. Επιμελητής της Έκθεσης είναι ο Yannis Tzortzis. Eπίσης, θα προβληθεί το ντοκιμαντέρ “SUDAMERICA: Τα χίλια χρώματα της ζωής – Ένα οδοιπορικό της Green Project”, σε σκηνοθεσία της Dimitra Zirou.
Η Green Project ιδρύθηκε το 2008 από την εθελοντική πρωτοβουλία ενεργών πολιτών, επιστημόνων και καλλιτεχνών, εμπνευσμένη από το “World Solar Programme 1996-2005” της UNESCO, για την πραγματοποίηση των “πράσινων φωτογραφικών οδοιπορικών”, υπό την αιγίδα της Ελληνικής Εθνικής Επιτροπής για την UNESCO. Στοχεύει στην αφύπνιση της κοινωνικής συνείδησης μέσω της περιβαλλοντικής φωτογραφίας και του ντοκιμαντέρ, αποτελώντας όχημα ελληνικής πολιτιστικής και ενεργειακής διπλωματίας. Μέχρι σήμερα, έχει υλοποιήσει τα οδοιπορικά στην Ασία (2008, Αθήνα – Πεκίνο), στην Αφρική (2010, Αθήνα – Κέιπ Τάουν), στην Ευρώπη (2012, Αθήνα-Βόρειο Ακρωτήριο), στη Νότια Αμερική (2014, Μπογκοτά-Γη του Πυρός), και τον περίπλου του Ιονίου με ιστιοπλοϊκό (2017). Το έργο της έχει αναγνωριστεί διεθνώς ως “Best Practice in the Annual Report of National Commissions for UNESCO of 2014”, ενώ έχει αποσπάσει το “First Prize in Arts” στο “Public Book Awards 2015”, το “Πρώτο Βραβείο” του “International Photo Competition 2014” του Energy Community της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης στη Βιέννη, Αυστρία, το “Μεγάλο Βραβείο Διεθνούς Συμμετοχής” του “Festival de l’ Image Environnementale 2010” στο Παρίσι, Γαλλία καθώς επίσης και το “Third Award for the Clean Development Mechanism” στο “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2010” στο Κανκούν, Μεξικό. Το 2018, το ντοκιμαντέρ σε παραγωγή της Green Project “SUDAMERICA: Τα χίλια χρώματα της ζωής – Ένα οδοιπορικό της Green Project” διακρίθηκε στο “4ο Αφιέρωμα στο Ελληνικό Ντοκιμαντέρ της Αθήνας”, που συνδιοργανώθηκε από την “Ένωση Ελληνικού Ντοκιμαντέρ” και το “Φεστιβάλ Ντοκιμαντέρ Θεσσαλονίκης”.

With the warm wishes of H.E. Ms Kate Logan, the Ambassador of Australia in Greece, three Cretans, Dr Yannis Tzortzis, Mr Jason Tavlas and Mr Kostis Vardas, together with 12 more members of the non-profit organisation Green Project (GP green-project.org), embark on an alternative environmental journey: “Green Project Australia 2018 – Platypus trail: Renewables, Biospheres and Aborigines”. The kick-off event will take place this coming Sunday 5th August 2018, at 18:00 hours in the Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture, Melbourne.
Celebrating the “European Year of Cultural Heritage” (EYCH 2018), from 4 August to 2 September 2018, GP has the goal to make the past meet the future and raise public awareness about the importance of combining the Renewable energy technology innovation with the UNESCO Biosphere reserves programme and the traditional environmental knowledge of Australian Aborigines. The Australian best practices could become a valuable source of experiential information that provide important insights for investing in clean energy in Australia, and for Greek experts to plan an effective strategy to develop Renewables in Greece, as well as to prevent environmental disasters like the wildfires which devastated Attica, recently.
In 29 days, the Green Project 15 member strong delegation will embark on the 11.210 kms “green photo journey” using motorhomes with solar panels, passing through Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Darwin, Broome and Perth. The crew team is going to visit and record 56 “green points of interest”.

During the above ceremonial kick-off event, at the Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture, there is going to take place the opening of the environmental photo exhibition “Sailing to inner habitats” with pictures from remote marine ecosystems of the Ionian Sea, which has been chosen for the Athens Photo Festival 2018. The photographers who participate are: Katerina Charterou, Valeria Kaltezioti, Danae Stavros, Stephanos Stavros, Dr Yannis Tzortzis, Sandy Vergitsi and Nikolas Zacharopoulos. The exhibition curator is Dr Yannis Tzortzis. Further to this, the Green Project’s documentary film “SUDAMERICA: The colors of life – A Green Project Journey” by the director Dimitra Zirou, will be presented.
The Green Project was established in 2008 by a voluntary initiative of active citizens, scientists and artists, inspired by UNESCO’s “World Solar Programme 1996-2005”. The Green Project has a unique and extensive experience in the implementation of the “green photo journeys” under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO. It seeks to raise social awareness through environmental photography and film that could stand out through its authenticity, being a photo-art vehicle of Greek cultural and energy diplomacy. The Green Project has already conducted four road trips, to explore and record important aspects of the human journey: a) in Asia (2008) from Athens to Beijing, from the silk roads to the energy routes, b) in Africa (2010) from Athens to Cape Town, through the waterways of energy, c) in Europe (2012) from Athens to North Cape, along the north – south energy interconnections, d) in South America (2014) from Bogota to the Land of Fire, from geodiversity to biodiversity, and e) in the Ionian Sea (2017) a green photo cruise to unexplored marine ecosystems. In recognition of the above, the Green Project has been presented as “Best Practice” by the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO in the Annual Report of National Commissions of 2014. Additionally, the Green Project has been awarded the “First Award 2014” of the “International Photo Competition” of the “Energy Community”, Vienna, Austria, the “First International Participation Award” of the “Festival de l’ Image Environnementale 2010” in Paris, France and the “Third Award for the Clean Development Mechanism” at the “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2010” in Cancun, Mexico. Its documentary film “SUDAMERICA: The colors of life” has been widely acclaimed at the “4th Athens Documentary Film Festival 2018”, which has been co-organised by the “Greek Documentary Association” and the “Thessaloniki Documentary Festival”.
