Δημήτριος ΜηχαηλίδηςΤο Τμήμα Ιατρικής του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης αναγορεύει τον Καθηγητή Δημήτριο Μιχαηλίδη, σε Επίτιμο Διδάκτορα του Τμήματος τη Παρασκευή 12 Oκτωβρίου 2012 και ώρα 17:00, στο αμφιθέατρο 7Α Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών, στο ισόγειο του κτηρίου του Τμήματος Ιατρικής, στην Πανεπιστημιούπολη Βουτών, στο Ηράκλειο.

Ο κ. Δ. Μιχαηλίδης είναι Reader and Honorary Consultant στο Department of Clinical Biochemistry Royal Free Hospital campus, University College London Medical School, University of London.

 

Η αναγόρευση του τιμωμένου θα γίνει από τον Αντιπρύτανη του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης Καθηγητή Κωνσταντίνο Τζανάκη.

Στα πλαίσια της τελετής ο τιμώμενος θα δώσει διάλεξη με τίτλο: « Η μελέτη GREACE: Ένα παράδειγμα του τι μπορεί να επιτευχθεί στην Ελλάδα. Η θέση της Ελλάδας στην Ιατρική έρευνα».

ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ

Dimitri P. Mikhailidis is Academic Head, Reader and Honorary Consultant in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Royal Free Hospital campus, University College London Medical School, University College London (UCL), UK. He also is a Visiting Professor at Robert Gordon University (Aberdeen, Scotland) and the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, Greece. His clinical interest is vascular disease prevention, and his research interests are dyslipidaemias and thrombosis. He is a former Wellcome Trust fellow and has supervised 15 doctoral students (University of London).

He is a former Vice-president, Section of Pathology, Royal Society of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM)

He has 968 entries on MEDLINE and 13,474 citations listed in the ISI index (H-factor = 53). He is editor-in-chief of several journals including Current Medical Research and Opinion, Current Vascular Pharmacology, Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy (impact factors = 2.4 to 3.2). He as acted as referee for 102 medical journals.

He has participated in several guideline committees. He is a member of the nucleus group for peripheral arterial disease, European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is the lead for the Prevention Section of the European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS) Guidelines for the Management of Carotid Artery Disease. He has lectured in 46 countries.

He was awarded the Order of St. Mark (first class) for services to the Greek community outside Greece. He holds Honorary Doctorates from 5 Medical Schools in Greece (Athens, Ioannina, Thessaloniki, Larissa and Crete). A total of 22 Greek Clinical Research Fellows have been attached to his Department (in London) for various periods of time.
